The Dr. Gregory M. Gazzola DMD LLC provides all types of oral surgery. Oral surgery ranges from simple tooth extractions to the realignment of the jaw causing a wanted change in the patient’s facial structure. Dr. Gazzola has been very extensively trained and is highly skilled in performing surgery in even the most challenging cases. He is also trained in all aspects of anesthesia and proper post-op, making sure that our patients are as pain-free and comfortable as possible throughout their procedure and after. Dr. Gazzola provides the highest standard of care for every single patient. We are proud to serve people of all ages, from young children to the elderly.
We provide a wide range of anesthetic options depending on the type of procedure being performed and how nervous a patient may be. The safety and comfort of our patients is our highest priority and every option will be discussed in detail prior to treatment.
Our third set of molars, which are more commonly called our “wisdom teeth” rarely have enough room to fully emerge into the mouth without crowding other teeth and causing an extreme amount of pressure in the head and neck area. They also very commonly can cause severe pain due to infections, tumors, and cysts. If they are not removed there can be problems with proper bite alignment of the teeth, cause constant headaches, collect unwanted bacteria and food, and raise the chance of having decay and gum disease.
Wisdom teeth can be removed safely and comfortably saving patients from years of pain and discomfort and acute dangerous oral infections. Early evaluation and intervention is the key to reducing the risk of complications. By using the proper diagnostic radiography, Dentists are able to identify if a patient’s third molars will be a problem or not. This is one of the many things that will be discussed in the initial visit with Dr. Gazzola and put in a treatment plan, if necessary work is needed.
Teeth that are very badly damaged due to trauma or decay may be too difficult to restore and impossible to save and in the end must be removed. Dr. Gregory M. Gazzola DMD LLC uses the most modern techniques to ensure that this is done safely and as comfortably as possible. Removal of the third molars is the most common form of extraction, however patients need this done if a tooth or several teeth have been severely affected by decay, a patient has advanced periodontal disease, has an extra tooth or cyst most likely identified in an x-ray, or experienced a traumatic accident that caused a tooth to break in a way that the dentist cannot restore it properly.
For people with a missing tooth or even several missing teeth, dental implants can seem like a miracle. They are a wonderful tooth replacement option and are less frustrating than dealing with bridges and dentures. Once in place they maintain normal jaw functioning and look very natural.
If you are missing teeth and are tired of having loose dentures dental implants may be a great option for you. Dr. Gregory M. Gazzola DMD LLC can offer complete Dental Implant Service in house. Usually without involving a specialist.
Most people are not aware that oral cancer occurs more frequently and is more dangerous than other forms of cancer such as cervical cancer. When found at an early stage it can be easily treated, however if left undetected it can metastasize easily into the lymph nodes of the neck making it a very hard cancer to fight. Also, if one has had oral cancer in the past that person is twenty times more likely to become ill with another form of cancer.
If a patient notices or feels something odd inside their mouth it is important to see a dentist immediately for a complete examination. A tiny piece of tissue from the area should be removed and sent for analysis by a pathologist to determine if the lesion is a benign tumor or cancerous. If it is diagnosed and treated early one can avoid major surgical procedures and it may even save a patient's life!
Corrective jaw surgery is needed in cases when a patient’s bite is improper not only because the teeth are crowded but because their jaw is actually misaligned mainly due to genetics. Dr. Gregory M. Gazzola DMD LLC in Northeast Connecticut can recommend highly skilled oral surgeons who can coordinate with an orthodontist if a patient is experiencing difficulty chewing, speaking, having jaw pain, and/or difficulty breathing. A complete evaluation of a patient's bite will be done at the initial visit and the dentist will determine if surgery is necessary. Corrective jaw surgery can give a patient a proper well-functioning bite, eliminate the jaw pain, improve your appearance and help your natural teeth stay healthy longer and hopefully last a lifetime!
Reconstructive surgery can be the best solution in cases where teeth have been extracted due to the removal of tumors or as a result of facial injuries. When there is not adequate tissue or bone remaining to place dental implants or even place dentures and regain the face’s natural contours, reconstructive surgery may be the best option. Bone and tissue grafts can be done to restore form and function.
If you have too much tissue or bone and this is getting in the way of placing dentures, or if you are seeking a cosmetic solution, reconstructive oral surgery can be the answer.
